ABSTRACT

A rare case of an uncommon localization of a hydatid cyst is presented in this work. It concerns a 65- year old woman with a big palpable mass on the inner side of the upper left leg. The US examination revealed a characteristic “double membrane” appearance and CTS image showed multiple cystic formations within a cyst.
The treatment contained surgical drainage, removal of numerous daughter cysts and meticulous irrigation of the remaining cavity with hypertonic saline. No scolicidal drugs were administered and no other localization of hydatid cysts was discavered. One year later the patients is in local fine and general condition was fine.

Key words: Hydatidosis, Echinococcosis, Soft tissue hydatidosis
