Graduate competencies
By mastering the study program, the student acquires general and subject-specific abilities of relevant importance for the quality of professional and scientific activity.
General abilities:
- Analytical thinking in solving specific medical and health problems and predicting the consequences
- Mastering methods for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment
- Mastering research methods, procedures, and processes in the field of medicine
- Analyzing professional and scientific literature in accordance with the "evidence-based medicine" critical approach
- Application of knowledge about diseases and drugs in clinical practice
- Mastering the skill of communication with patients and colleagues
- Recognizing and correctly resolving professional ethical quandaries
Subject-specific abilities
Subject-specific abilities are in accordance with the structure and content of the study program and are shown in a table (Appendix 4.2.) within the following categories: Integration of basic sciences in medicine, Integration of clinical knowledge and skills into patient care, Interpersonal and communication skills, Professionalism, Organization and systemic approach to medicine, Continuing education and training.Learning outcomes
The learning outcomes, provided by the curriculum structure of the study program of Integrated academic studies of medicine, enable the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and attitudes or behaviors in accordance with Directives 2005/36/EC and 2013/55/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council on the recognition of professional qualifications of September 7th, 2005, and from November 20th, 2013, i.e.:
А) Adequate knowledge of the science on which medicine is based and a good understanding of scientific methods, including principles of biological functions, evaluation of scientifically established facts, and data analysis;
B) A good understanding of the structure, functions, and behavior of healthy and sick persons, as well as the relationship between a person's state of health and his physical and social environment;
C) Adequate knowledge of clinical disciplines and procedures that gives a complete picture of mental and physical diseases, of medicine from the standpoint of prevention, diagnosis, and therapy, and of human reproduction;
D) Appropriate clinical experience in a hospital-based healthcare setting under appropriate supervision.
