20.0 и Microsoft Office Excel 2007.

Introduction: In prenatal and adult cardiovascular surgery knowledge of diameters of the aortic and great arterial pathways is very
important. The growth dynamics of these structures is essential for an understanding of their morphological characteristics.
The Аim: The aim of this study was to determine the morphometric characteristics of the aorta and arterial duct in fetuses.
Material and Methods: The study was performed on 67 preparation of the fetal heart with the aorta. Preparations were
photographed and 7 linear parameters on the aorta and arterial duct were measured using ImageJ program. Statistical analysis was
done in programs: IBM SPSS Statistic ver. 20.0 and Microsoft Office Excel 2007.
Results: Diameters of the ascending aorta, aortic arch, aortic arch between the 2nd and 3rd branch of the aorta and aortic isthmus
in fetus had statistically significant growth in the third trimester (p <0.001). The diameter of the ascending aorta increased
statistically significantly at the 6th (p <0.05) and 7th (p <0.001) lunar month; diameter of the aortic arch increased statistically
significantly in the 6th and 7th lunar months (p <0.05); the diameter of the aortic arch between the 2nd and 3rd branch of the
aortic arch and the aortic isthmus increased statistically significant in the 7th lunar month (p<0.05). By successive branching of the
aortic arch, the diameter of the fetal aorta decreased. Arterial duct had a smaller diameter than the ascending aorta, aortic arch
and aortic isthmus in the fetus. The length of the fetal aortic arch grew statistically significantly in the third trimester (p=0.001) in
the segment before the branching of its 2nd branch.
Conclusion: Diameters of the fetal aorta and arterial duct increase significantly by gestational age, but there is a less intensive
growth of aortic length in the same gestational period.
